History-Creators=Alexis barregat, Kevin Perreau. It was released in 2020 but became popular in 2022 thanks to generation Z. The code was written in Swift and the platform they are compatibility with iOS and Android.

Background-It is a french social media app that was obsolete for 2 years butt aimed popularity thanks to university students.

Be-real if taken late show how late the user was in posting and how many attempts they have used to take the photo they posted 

Purpose-Daily notification that’s encourages users to share a photo of themselves and their surroundings and are given a  minute window to do this and this happens everyday. Users have the chance to delete their post but only once and cant post more than once and you can never predict when the window is going to open. 

Popularity-Got a popular on college and university campuses due to a paid program.As of August 2022 the app has 10 million daily active users and 21.6 million and monthly users and in April 2022 they received $30 million in funding from Ardessen Horowitz and ACCED. Grown its user base by 315%

Advantage-Title is a word pun in itself called ‘be-real’. The app doesn’t allow filters or editing of any kind. Be-real wont be famous. Encourages people to spend the day out in case the window opens and allows them to show off.

Disadvantages-Has access too both cameras and advertises your location and the locations of your friends.  

News coverage-Critics have noted and praised its emphasis on authenticity and reality which crossed the line into mundane. It also. Helps users focus on uploading unfiltered photos and helped body Meg and self esteem. Be-real has also been described as the antidote to social media as it was designed to compete with instagram and is supposed to help with de-emphasising social media an addiction and overuse.

The name in itself is a pretty good summary of the app and since it doubles as a pun I think the creators Alexis Barreyat and Kevin perreau not only have a good sense of but a good sense of what the public want when it comes to social media

As Be-Real is the number one download in the uk with over 10 million users worldwide and using it daily and 21.6 monthly users it has became popular during this year which is good news for their investors since it was considered obsolete the first 2 years after being released. But thanks to university students and a paid program to help it become more popular I is now one of the most liked and popular social media apps holding its own against the top dogs: TikTok, instagram and facebook. So its good news for the investors who raised $30 million for its funding.

As some of you may know Be-Real allows you to capture yourself and your general surroundings in a 2 minute window everyday. The innovative idea they came up with in this app is that you can only post once a day and if you try more than once to get he picture it shows on your post so people can know how realistic you are being. Not only that but be-real has loads of other benefits mainly helping mental health problems.

Be-real has been praised for its potential to help its users overcome self-worth issues and anxiety issues. Glamour, the verge and the New York Times journal have all stated that Be-Real is the perfect antidote to the toxicity of other social media platforms. The creators themselves designed Be-real to compete with instagram whilst de-emphasising social media addiction and over usage of popular platforms.since the app doesn’t allow filters it means that users cant hide from the world or hide behind their stage persona like they do on other platforms.

Not only do the press love Be-real but the public do too #Be-real was one of the most poplar hashtags during this year and the app also became the most iconic when it came to memes and jokes. Although some are the jokes seem to enter around he fact that the 2 minute window to post happens randomly every day and people have made jokes of the timer going off at the wrong time or in a awkward situations.
